Men's Basketball Overpowers John Jay, 86-45

Pioneers Score Game's First 16 Points against Bloodhounds

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (7-1) started the game with a 16-0 run and never looked back, overpowering John Jay (1-6) for an 86-45 men's basketball victory Dec. 9.

Senior Joseph Ellis (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) drained eight of 14 (.571) field goals overall and three of six from three-point range for a game-high 21 points. He also nearly notched a double-double with his game-best nine rebounds. Classmate Bobby Dunn (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson Regional) chipped in 14 tallies and five assists, senior Eric Moore (Dover, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) had 12 points, and classmate Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) added 10 tallies and six boards.

After charging out to a 41-17 halftime lead, William Paterson shot 61.3 (19-31) percent from the floor during the second period to build a 41-point edge (84-43) late in the game. WP owned a 47-26 rebounding advantage and a 24-14 turnover margin, out-scoring the Bloodhounds 31-6 in points off turnovers.

Chris Jaeger and Ryan Olsen each scored 12 points for John Jay.

The Pioneers will host Hunter Saturday, Dec. 12, at 3:00 p.m.
