Men's Basketball Rolls Past TCNJ, 78-46

Ouedraogo Posts 19 Points, Nine Rebounds in Victory

WAYNE, N.J. – Senior Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) was 9-for-10 (.900) from the floor to lead all players with 19 points and nine rebounds as the William Paterson men's basketball team (6-1, 2-0 NJAC) easily defeated visiting The College of New Jersey (4-4, 0-2 NJAC), 78-46, Dec. 5 at the Rec Center.

The Pioneers opened up a 40-19 lead by halftime, their largest advantage of the opening period, behind 61.5 (16-26) percent shooting from the floor and a 4-for-7 (.571) effort from beyond the arc. William Paterson scored 19 points off of 12 TCNJ first-half turnovers, and held two-time NJAC Player of the Week and conference leading scorer Jay Frank (19.0 ppg) to just a pair of free throws and 0-for-4 shooting from the floor during the first 20 minutes.

It was more of the same for William Paterson in the second half as the Pioneers began the period with a 10-0 run on their way to a 40-point edge (64-24, 8:09) before substituting liberally during the remainder of the contest.

Senior Eric Moore (Dover, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) posted 12 points and five assists in 20 minutes off the bench for WP. Classmate Joseph Ellis (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) had nine tallies and a game-best six assists. The Pioneers made 33 of 63 (.524) attempts overall and six of 14 (.429) from beyond the arc, and out-scored TCNJ 36-16 in the paint. Twelve of William Paterson's 14 players got into the scoring column.

Freshman Pete Szukics paced the Lions with 10 points as the only player in double figures. Frank finished 2-for-9 for six points, scoring four of his tallies during the game's final eight minutes.
