Box Score

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Ahead by two with 12:20 to play in the first half, the William Paterson men's basketball team (3-1) outscored host New York City Tech (0-4) by a 33-point margin the rest of the way, pulling away for an 83-48 victory Nov. 24.

Senior Eric Moore (Dover, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) led WP with 14 points on 5-for-5 shooting, including four treys, while junior Shaun Canty (Englewood, N.J./Paramus Catholic) had 13 tallies. Senior Tim Lucas (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) contributed 10 points and a game-best six assists, and he shared team-high rebounding honors with classmate Bobby Dunn (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson Regional) with six apiece. Senior Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) and sophomore Robert Whetham (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) each chipped in eight tallies.

William Paterson was efficient from the field, making 28 of 44 (.636) attempts overall and eight of 10 (.800) from behind the arc. The Pioneers were just as good on the other end of the floor, limiting City Tech to a 24.6 (14-57) percent shooting effort overall and a 2-for-16 (.125) night from three-point range.

Seven straight points midway through the first half helped to give William Paterson some breathing room at 23-14 (10:31), and the Pioneers entered the break with a 49-30 edge. WP ended any City Tech comeback hopes by expanding its lead to 27 seven minutes into the second period (62-35, 12:56).

Gabriel Davis led City Tech with 16 points and seven rebounds. Fitzgerald Charles was the only other Yellow Jacket in double figures with 11 tallies.

William Paterson will host York (N.Y.) Saturday, Nov. 28, at 3:00 p.m.
