Pioneers, Mustangs to Meet at 12:00 p.m.

William Paterson (1-3, 0-3 NJAC) will finish a two-game road swing Saturday, Oct. 10, when the Pioneers take on Morrisville State (1-4, 1-3 NJAC). Kickoff at Andy Kerr Stadium on the Colgate University campus will be at 12:00 p.m.

Scouting the Pioneers
William Paterson is 1-3 overall and 0-3 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play following a 24-17 loss at Montclair State (3-1, 3-0 NJAC) Oct. 3. 

Freshman Ryan Gresik (Newton, N.J./Newton) made his first appearance under center a week ago, and completed two of four passes for 14 yards against the Red Hawks. Senior Matt Marshall (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City), who tossed a school-record 20 touchdown passes a year ago, is 80-for-140 for 827 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions this season. He ranks fifth in passing yardage (206.8 yards/game) and seventh in total offense (209.8 yards/game) in the conference. 

Sophomore Marcus McKinney (Paterson, N.J./John F. Kennedy) has gained 322 yards on 88 carries (3.7 yards/attempt) and scored a touchdown to lead the ground game, including a school-record 35 attempts at King's Sept. 19. His 80.5 rushing yards per game rank third in the NJAC, and his 87.8 all-purpose yards per contest rank ninth. Classmate Corey Paladino (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) has rushed 25 times for 70 yards and one touchdown. 

Senior Joel Rivera (Hoboken, N.J./Hoboken), who established new Pioneer records with his 74 receptions for 965 yards to earn 2008 first-team all-NJAC and second-team all-region accolades, currently has 20 catches for 258 yards and three TDs. With his 14-yard TD catch at Montclair State Oct. 3, Rivera became the Pioneers' all-time career touchdown receptions leader (17). He is second in the NJAC stats in receptions/game (5.0) and fifth in receiving yards/game (64.5). Senior Chris Schule (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) has added 18 catches for 211 yards and two scores. Junior fullback Derrik Rideg (Rochelle Park, N.J./Paramus Catholic), who was an honorable-mention all-league selection after catching 19 passes for 189 yards a year ago, currently has 16 receptions for 116 yards. 

Junior linebacker Jim Hamill (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) paces William Paterson with 42 tackles (20 solo, 2.0 TFL), or 10.5 per game to rank second in the conference statistics, while adding an interception. A second-team all-NJAC honoree a year ago, junior defensive end Dyon Moore (Brooklyn, N.Y./Hudson Catholic) has made 29 tackles (16 solo, 7.5 TFL) and forced a fumble. He is fourth in the league statistics in tackles for loss (1.88 TFL/game) and tied for 11th overall in tackles (7.2 per game). The 2008 NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Year, Doug Dudek (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) has 24 stops (five solo, 3.0 TFL), an interception, two passes-broken-up and a fumble recovery. Senior defensive end Keith Sayball (Milford, Conn./Foran) has 23 tackles (nine solo, 2.5 TFL). 

Freshman placekicker Ryan Brzycki (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) is 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts and 6-for-7 on PATs, while freshman running back/punter Dan DeCicco (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) has averaged 36.7 yards/punt. 

William Paterson returned nine offensive starters and seven defensive starters, including seven all-conference selections, from a 2008 team that compiled a 4-6 overall record and a 3-6 mark in NJAC play. The Pioneers were picked to finish seventh in the 2009 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Scouting the Mustangs
Morrisville State is 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) following a 25-17 victory at Western Connecticut (0-4, 0-3 NJAC) Oct. 3. 

Sophomore Jamieson Crast is 87-for-152 for 1,008 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions under center. Classmate Maurice Mitchelson leads the Mustangs with 85 carries for 294 yards (3.5 yards/attempt), and he also is averaging 20.7 yards per kickoff return and 11.2 yards per punt return. Junior Kyle Gordon has caught 19 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown, while classmate Joe Shue has 16 receptions for 250 yards and three scores. 

Sophomore linebacker Anthony Brown is Morrisville's leading tackler with 36 stops (21 solo, 1.5 TFL), adding a fumble forced. Junior defensive back Tommy Moyon has 30 tackles (16 solo), a fumble forced and an interception, while senior linebacker EJ Maeweather has added 26 stops (19 solo, 4.5 TFL). 

Morrisville State was 1-9 overall and 0-9 in NJAC competition a year ago. The Mustangs were picked to finish 10th in the 2009 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
