HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (14-4) split a pair of matches played at Centenary College Oct. 10. The Pioneers saw their seven-match win streak snapped with a 3-0 (21-25, 19-25, 13-25) loss to Cabrini (16-6), but bounced back for a 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-21, 25-15) win against the host Cyclones (8-12).
Against Cabrini, senior Amanda Mitchell (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) contributed 14 digs, while junior Michelle Leeder (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) had 11 digs. Junior Jillian Bronowich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) accumulated 10 assists, and both senior Kelly Helfrich (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) and sophomore Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) each had 10 kills.
During the four-set win against Centenary, Helfrich had a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs. Maher posted 14 kills, Leeder had 13 kills and six digs, and Mitchell contributed five kills and 10 digs. Freshman Kelly Shaw (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) added eight kills for the Pioneers.
William Paterson will return home to face Montclair State Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7:00 p.m.
