HAMILTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Marcus McKinney (Paterson, N.J./John F. Kennedy) rushed for a pair of touchdowns and the Pioneer defense held the Mustangs to -2 yards rushing to help lead William Paterson (2-3, 1-3 NJAC) to a 14-2 victory against Morrisville State (1-5, 1-4 NJAC) Oct. 10 at Colgate's Andy Kerr Stadium.

Senior lineman Keith Sayball (Milford, Conn./Foran) led the defensive effort with a career-best 13 tackles (seven solo, 6.0 TFL), including 2.5 sacks for a loss of 22 yards, and a fumble forced. Sophomore defensive back Doug Dudek (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) had 11 stops (eight solo) and a fumble forced, while juniors Jim Hamill (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) and Dyon Moore (Brooklyn, N.Y./Hudson Catholic) each made nine stops.

Freshman quarterback Ryan Gresik (Newton, N.J./Newton) was 5-for-15 for 66 yards in his first collegiate start. McKinney gained 74 yards on 20 carries, while freshman Dan DeCicco (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) had one carry for 42 yards and sophomore Corey Paladino (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) posted 37 yards on the ground on 13 attempts. Senior wide receiver Joel Rivera (Hoboken, N.J./Hoboken) caught three passes for a total of 38 yards, and classmate Bruce Katkowski (Saddle Brook, N.J./Paramus Catholic) had two receptions for 43 yards.

After playing a scoreless first quarter, William Paterson's Andre Snead (Atlantic City, N.J./Atlantic City) intercepted Morrisville quarterback Jamieson Crast just 21 seconds into the second, returning the ball 26 yards to the Mustangs' 12-yard line. Four plays later, McKinney crossed the goal line from three yards out, and freshman Ryan Brzycki (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) kicked the extra point to give the Pioneers the 7-0 lead.

William Paterson appeared to extend its lead just before halftime, but it was ruled that McKinney fumbled, and Morrisville State's Sean McDaniel recovered the ball and returned it to midfield. Morrisville later turned the ball over on downs six seconds before the end of the half.

During the final quarter, Morrisville State put together its longest drive of the afternoon but couldn't capitalize as the Mustangs turned the ball over for the third time of the day when Leer Biddle (Sicklerville, N.J./Lenape) intercepted Crast on the William Paterson one-yard line.

On the next play, Morrisville State's defense forced a Pioneer fumble in the end zone that was recovered by Gresik, putting the Mustangs on the scoreboard thanks to a safety with 9:55 remaining.

Sayball forced a Crast fumble that was recovered by sophomore Damian DiIorio (Totowa, N.J./Passaic Valley), giving the Pioneers the ball at the Mustangs' 30-yard line with 2:40 on the clock. Facing fourth-and-six, senior quarterback Matt Marshall (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) found Katkowski for a 21-yard completion, and on the very next snap McKinney scored a five-yard touchdown. Brzycki's PAT was the final point of the day, making it a 14-2 margin with 1:14 left.

William Paterson owned a 259-152 advantage in total offense, including a 166-yard edge on the ground. DiIorio posted eight tackles (three solo) and a fumble recovery, while sophomore Stephen Bovo, Jr. (Dunellen, N.J./Dunellen) had the Pioneers' third interception of the day with his third-quarter pick.

Crast completed 17 of 31 passes for 154 yards, including seven to wide receiver Hodges Sneed for 57 yards. Joe Shue added 48 yards on four catches. Crast threw three interceptions and had a fumble, while Sneed fumbled once.

Defensively, EJ Maeweather led the Mustangs' defensive efforts, recording a season-high 13 tackles (six solo, 2.5 TFL) while forcing a fumble. Pelham added 10 and forced a fumble, and Tommy Moyon recorded nine stops and forced the third Pioneer fumble of the day.
