No. 25 Men's Basketball Runs Past Ramapo, 67-53

Pioneers Get Back to Winning Ways Thanks to Outstanding Defensive Effort

WAYNE, N.J. – No. 25 William Paterson (11-2, 3-1 NJAC) got back to its winning ways, running past Ramapo (9-7, 2-3 NJAC), 67-53, in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) men's basketball action Jan. 14 at the Rec Center.

The Pioneers used a 15-6 advantage in fast-break points and 40.7 (24-59) percent shooting from the field to get past the Roadrunners. Ramapo was 0-for-14 from three-point range on the night and made just 13 of 25 (.520) shots from the charity stripe and 20 of 64 (.313) attempts from the field overall.

Leading 28-21 at the break, William Paterson quickly pulled ahead by 15 (46-31, 11:48) thanks to an 11-4 run early in the second half, and that advantage never dipped below seven points for the remainder of the contest.

Junior guard Joseph Ellis (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) led WP with 19 points and four steals, adding seven rebounds. Sophomore Gabriel Paul (Hillside, N.J./Hillside) chipped in 13 tallies while tying for the team lead with nine rebounds, junior Manny Perrotte (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) had 11 points, and classmate Bobby Dunn (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) contributed nine rebounds and a game-best five assists.

Junior Andre Kenny had a team-high 19 points and nine rebounds for Ramapo. Senior Tim Wesley posted 14 tallies and three assists.

William Paterson will play at Rutgers-Camden Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1:00 p.m., while the Roadrunners will host Rowan Jan. 17 at 3:00 p.m.
