Football Team to Play at Rowan Saturday

Pioneers, Profs to Kick-off at 1:00 p.m.

William Paterson will face Rowan Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1:00 p.m. in Glassboro, N.J.

Two teams searching for a first conference victory will meet when the William Paterson football team (1-1, 0-1 NJAC) takes on Rowan (1-1, 0-1 NJAC) Saturday, Sept. 27. Kickoff at John Page Field (5,000) will be at 1:00 p.m., and the game's radio broadcast will be available online via the Profs' student radio station, WGLS 89.7 FM (wgls.rowan.edu)
 

SCOUTING WILLIAM PATERSON
William Paterson is 1-1 overall and 0-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play, most recently defeating U.S. Merchant Marine (1-2), 21-13, at Wightman Stadium Sept. 20. 

Junior Matt Marshall (6-3, 195, Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) is 35-for-57 (.614) for 434 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions under center. 

Senior Shaun Puluse (5-10, 210, Haledon, N.J./Passaic Tech), a 2007 honorable-mention all-NJAC selection, leads the Pioneers' ground game with 39 carries for 147 yards. Junior Joel Rivera (6-1, 190, Hoboken, N.J./Hoboken) has caught a team-best 14 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns. 

Sophomore defensive lineman Dyon Moore (6-2, 260, Brooklyn, N.Y./Hudson Catholic) has made a team-high 18 tackles (seven solo, 2.5 TFL), recovering one of the two fumbles he has forced. Sophomore defensive back Joe Pandorf (5-9, 175, Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Twp.) has 17 tackles (four solo, 3.0 TFL), while junior linebacker and 2007 second-team all-NJAC pick Jared Burke (6-1, 220, Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) has 15 tackles (six solo, 3.0 TFL) and a forced fumble. 

The Pioneers return 51 letterwinners, eight offensive starters and six defensive starters from a 2007 team that posted a 5-5 overall record and a 3-4 mark in NJAC play.

SCOUTING ROWAN
The Profs are 1-1 this season following a 27-20 home loss to No. 20 SUNY Cortland Sept. 20. Rowan began the 2008 campaign with a 24-14 victory at Bridgewater State Sept. 6. 

Junior Frank Wilczynski (6-1, 195, Pine Hill, N.J./Overbrook) directs the Rowan offense, completing 22 of 45 passes for 263 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He also is the Profs' leading rusher, carrying 28 times for 89 yards and three TDs. Sophomore Brett Scott (6-0, 230, Bellmawr, N.J./Triton Regional) has carried 21 times for 85 yards, while senior Davon Edwards (5-8, 170, Whitesboro, N.J./Middle Twp.) has caught a team-best five passes for 81 yards. 

Junior linebacker Drew Yezzi (6-2, 230, Franklinville, N.J./Delsea Regional) paces the Rowan defense with 16 tackles (10 solo), while junior linebacker Kevin Taylor (6-1, 210, Westwood, N.J./Westwood Regional) has made 13 stops (six solo, 1.0 sack). 

Rowan was 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the NJAC last season.
