MAHWAH, N.J. – The William Paterson tennis team (1-2, 0-1 NJAC) fell 9-0 in its New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) season opener at Ramapo (8-2, 1-0 NJAC) Sept. 22.

The closest match of the day came at first singles, as Ramapo's Kristine Austria and William Paterson's Rachel Menzzopane (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) each won a set (3-6, 7-5) before Austria took the third set 10-5, earning the victory. In doubles action, Menzzopane and Lisa Varacallo (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) battled Liza Wyble and Alison Tukel before falling, 8-3.

The Pioneers will take on Baruch College Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1:00 p.m. at home in Wayne, N.J.
