WP to Play at Stockton in NJAC Final Saturday; Live Audio Available

Game to Begin at 2:00 p.m. in Pomona

The Pioneers will look to win their second league title in three years when they play at Stockton March 1.

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (19-6, 10-3 NJAC) faces off against Richard Stockton (19-6, 10-3 NJAC) to decide the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament title Saturday, March 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Stockton's Sports Complex. General admission is $5.00, while WP students, children and senior citizens will be admitted for $2.00.

A live audio stream of the game will be available at http://www.d3hoops.com/audio.  Listening to the broadcast requires Windows Media Player, which is standard for most computers.  The broadcast will start 10 minutes before tip with pregame coverage.
 
The Pioneers won the NJAC's North Division, and reached the tournament championship game with a 71-61 victory against Montclair State (16-11, 8-5 NJAC) in the semifinals Feb. 28. The Ospreys were the South Division champions, and defeated Ramapo (16-11, 9-4 NJAC), 60-59, in the semifinals Feb. 28.
William Paterson and Richard Stockton met once during the regular season, a 78-75 Osprey victory at WP Feb. 9. 
 
The Pioneers are looking to win their 10th NJAC title (1972, 1980, 1983, 1984, 1985, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006), and their second in three years.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
The Pioneers are 19-6 overall and 10-3 in NJAC play following a 71-61 victory against Montclair State in the NJAC Tournament semifinals Feb. 28. 

Second-team all-NJAC selection Joey Spiegel (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) leads the Pioneers in scoring (12.8 ppg, 12th in NJAC) and assists (3.28 apg, second in NJAC), adding 1.72 steals (eighth in NJAC) and 1.56 three-pointers made (13th in NJAC) per game while shooting .348 (39-112) from beyond the arc to rank 14th in the conference statistics. A 5-11 guard, Spiegel scored his 1,000th career point Feb. 13th in a game against Montclair State, and he currently ranks 21st in WP history with 1,064 tallies. 

The NJAC Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the All-NJAC First Team, Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) leads the conference in rebounding (8.9 rpg), blocked shots (2.24 bpg) and offensive rebounds (3.24 rpg), and ranks third in defensive rebounds (5.64 rpg), fourth in field-goal percentage (.520) and 19th in scoring (10.6 ppg). The Dec. 17 NJAC Player of the Week, the sophomore 6-8 forward began the week 14th in Division III in blocked shots and 48th in rebounding. 

Senior 6-3 guard Jason Cameron (Cliffside Park, N.J./Cliffside Park) is third for WP with 10.4 points per game (21st in NJAC), and he leads the NJAC in three-pointers/game (2.56). 

The Pioneers are among the nation's best defensive teams, and began the week third nationally in scoring defense (57.5 ppg), fifth in field-goal percentage defense (.383), 25th in scoring margin (+11.5) and 33rd in blocked shots (4.0 bpg). 

The Pioneers returned nine letterwinners and three starters from a 2006-07 team that posted a 15-10 overall record and a 6-7 mark in NJAC play.

SCOUTING THE OSPREYS
Richard Stockton is 19-6 overall and 10-3 in NJAC play following a 60-59 victory against Ramapo in the NJAC Tournament semifinals Feb. 28. Stockton has won its last four games. 

Junior 6-2 forward Jerome Hubbard, an honorable-mention all-NJAC selection, leads the Ospreys with 15.0 points (fifth in NJAC) and 2.40 steals (third in NJAC) per game. Senior 6-5 forward Jon Greene ranks ninth in the NJAC in scoring (13.5 ppg) and third in rebounding (8.0 rpg), earning a spot on the All-NJAC First Team. Senior 6-0 guard Mario Lancioni is adding 12.8 tallies (14th in NJAC) and 2.80 assists (eighth in NJAC) per contest. 

Stockton posted a 19-10 overall record and an 8-5 NJAC mark last winter, reaching the NJAC Tournament first round and the championship game of the ECAC Tournament.
