GLASSBORO, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (0-1, 0-1 NJAC) lost 143-80 at Rowan (1-0, 1-0 NJAC) in the season-opening meet for both schools Oct. 25.
Freshman
Brett Kuchin (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) began her college career with a win in the 200 IM (2:26.31) and a second-place effort in the 100 breast (1:13.07). Senior
Grace McKay (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) won the 100 back with a time of 1:02.52, classmate
Cathy Hartwell (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) touched second in the 200 free (2:06.09), and sophomore
Lauren Horowitz (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) placed third in the 500 free (6:04.00). In the diving events, junior
Giana Albruzzese (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) was second in both the one-meter (152.25) and the three-meter (143.10).
McKay, Kuchin,
Lesly Mendoza (Passaic, N.J./Paramus Catholic) and Hartwell combined to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:55.37.
William Paterson will conduct its first home meet of the season Tuesday, Oct. 28, against St. Joseph's-Long Island at 6:00 p.m.
