Maher Paces Pioneers with 21 Kills during Two Wins

Megan Maher posted totals of 21 kills, 11 assists and 16 digs during the two victories.

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (18-7) swept its home tri-match Oct. 25 at the Rec Center, defeating Staten Island (25-11, 25-12, 25-18) and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (25-6, 28-26, 25-16). During the third match of the day, the Dolphins defeated the Mariners 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 22-25, 25-12).

Against CSI, freshman Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) contributed a team-best nine kills to go along with seven assists and 11 digs. Sophomore Jillian Bronowich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) posted 11 assists and five digs, junior Samantha Reed (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) had 12 digs, classmate Kelly Helfrich (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) collected seven kills and nine digs, and freshman Chi Chi Okeke (Newark, N.J./Science Park) added eight digs.

During the victory against USMMA, Maher again led William Paterson with 12 kills, adding four assists and five digs. Reed registered 13 digs and five kills, Helfrich added 12 digs to her eight kills and three block solos, Bronowich posted 17 assists, and Okeke chipped in seven digs.

William Paterson will celebrate Senior Night Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7:00 p.m. when the Pioneers host Rutgers-Newark. A victory will assure William Paterson of a berth in the upcoming NJAC Tournament.
