WAYNE, N.J. – The league-leading Richard Stockton volleyball team (24-8) improved to 7-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play, defeating host William Paterson (16-7, 2-5 NJAC) 25-12, 25-9, 25-18 Oct. 21 at the Rec Center.
The Pioneers kept it close to begin the first set, but the Ospreys turned a 13-9 advantage into a 17-9 edge en route to the opening 25-12 win. Richard Stockton then scored seven of the first eight points of the second set before William Paterson rallied to pull within three at 8-5. However, the Ospreys responded, reeling off nine straight points to build a 17-5 lead and an eventual 25-9 victory. Stockton was never seriously challenged in winning the third set, 25-18.
Senior Audrey O'Donnell and classmate Amanda Burkart each had 10 kills to lead the Osprey offense. Senior Christine Aletras tallied 32 assists and three service aces, while sophomore Christine Astarita collected match bests of 11 digs and seven aces.

Kelly Helfrich (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) posted six kills and six digs for William Paterson, freshman
Megan Maher (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) had nine assists, five kills and five digs, and junior
Samantha Reed (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) registered eight digs for the Pioneers.
William Paterson will host a tri-match Saturday, Oct. 25, taking on Staten Island at 12:00 p.m. and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at 4:00 p.m.
