Box Score

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Following a wild and action-packed final 20 minutes, No. 16 William Paterson (10-3) came out on top, winning 3-2 at No. 14 Stevens Tech (12-2) Oct. 15 to give the Pioneers their second straight field hockey upset victory.

Neither team could find the back of the cage until the 51st minute, when senior Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) angled her way to the goal from the right and scored unassisted, her 14th goal of the year. The Pioneers pushed ahead 2-0 less than eight minutes later when Hall struck again, this time of an assist from junior Christina Ayusa (Runnemede, N.J./Triton).

Hilary Paul cut that lead in half at the 60:06 mark, and the Ducks evened the score in the 67th minute when Jillian Price finished a rebound after a scramble in front of the goal.

With 1:10 remaining in regulation, Ayusa slammed home a Hall rebound, her ninth goal of the year and her fifth game winner of the season.

William Paterson goalie Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made three saves, and was helped by defensive saves by freshman Mary O'Connor (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) and sophomore Jennie Hara (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.). Ellyn Griggs had four stops for Stevens. The win against the 14th-ranked Ducks came on the heels of a William Paterson 1-0 victory against No. 11 Montclair State Oct. 8.

William Paterson will return to action Saturday, Oct. 18, at Richard Stockton at 1:00 p.m.
