Football Prepares to Face TCNJ Oct. 18

Pioneers to Play in Ewing at 2:00 p.m.

SCOUTING WILLIAM PATERSON
William Paterson is 2-3 overall and 1-3 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play following a 27-14 Homecoming victory against Morrisville State (0-5, 0-5 NJAC) Oct. 11. 

Junior Matt Marshall (6-3, 195, Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) is 101-for-169 (.598) for 1,100 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions under center. He ranks sixth in the NJAC in passing yards/game (220.0 yards/game). 

Senior Shaun Puluse (5-10, 210, Haledon, N.J./Passaic Tech), a 2007 honorable-mention all-NJAC selection, leads the Pioneers' ground game with 91 carries for 360 yards (4.0 yards/attempt) and a score, averaging 72.0 yards/game to rank fifth in the conference. He has also caught 11 passes for 39 yards and a TD. Junior Joel Rivera (6-1, 190, Hoboken, N.J./Hoboken), the Sept. 28 NJAC and ECAC Southeast Region Offensive Player of the Week, has caught a league-best 41 passes (8.2 per game, seventh in Division III) for 567 yards and five touchdowns. His 113.4 receiving yards/game rate third in the NJAC (tied-21st in NCAA), and his 144.8 all-purpose yards/game rank sixth in the conference statistics. At Rowan Sept. 27, he established new school records with 16 catches and 226 yards. 

Junior linebacker and 2007 second-team all-NJAC pick Jared Burke (6-1, 220, Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) leads the Pioneers with 42 total tackles (21 solo, 7.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks). He is fifth in the NJAC in tackles/game (8.4), tied for seventh in TFL/game (1.40), and has added a forced fumble and a blocked PAT. Sophomore defensive lineman Dyon Moore (6-2, 260, Brooklyn, N.Y./Hudson Catholic) has made 36 stops (14 solo, tied-16th in NJAC with 7.2 tackles/game), owns a team-best 8.0 TFL (1.60 pg, tied-first in league and tied-41st in Division III) and 3.0 sacks (sixth in NJAC). Moore, the Sept. 7 NJAC Defensive Player of the Week, has forced a conference-best three fumbles, and has recovered a pair (0.40 pg, fourth in league). Junior linebacker Angelo Silletti (6-3, 235, Belleville, N.J./Hudson Catholic) has 30 tackles (12 solo, 5.0 TFL), while junior defensive lineman Keith Sayball (6-0, 220, Milford, Conn./Foran) has made 28 stops (11 solo, 6.0 TFL, 2.0 sacks) and is tied for 10th in the NJAC statistics in both sacks/game (0.40) and TFL/game (1.20). 

The Pioneers returned 51 letterwinners, eight offensive starters and six defensive starters from a 2007 team that posted a 5-5 overall record and a 3-4 mark in NJAC play.

SCOUTING THE COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY
The Lions are 2-3 overall and 2-2 in NJAC play following a 51-48 loss at Brockport Oct. 11. 

Junior quarterback Chris James (6-1, Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) is 93-for-156 (.596) for 1,234 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions. Junior Chase Misiura (5-10, Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) has carried 54 times for 300 yards (5.6 yards/carry) and three touchdowns, while junior Cam Richardson (5-11, Burlington, N.J./Burlington Twp.) has caught 27 passes for a team-best 417 yards and three scores.
Junior defensive back Paul Mychalczuk (5-10, Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) leads the Lion defense with 43 tackles (24 solo), three fumble recoveries and an interception. Junior defensive lineman Marc Fabiano (6-0, Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) has made 36 stops (19 solo, 6.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks), forcing a fumble. 

TCNJ posted a 9-3 overall record and a 6-1 mark in the NJAC during the 2007 season, winning the league title and advancing to the NCAA Playoffs.
