Tennis Suffers 6-3 Defeat against Rutgers-Newark

Busch, Seabeck Win Singles Matches

Kimberly Seabeck improved to 2-2 this season with a victory against Rutgers-Newark at sixth singles.

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson tennis team (1-4, 0-2 NJAC) suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of visiting Rutgers-Newark (8-3, 1-2 NJAC) Oct. 1.

The Pioneers earned a pair of singles victories against the Scarlet Raiders. Junior Heidi Busch (Lakehurst, N.J./Manchester Twp.) improved to 4-1 this season, defeating Amanda Northrup at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Kimberly Seabeck (Montague, N.J./Port Jervis) evened her 2008 record at 2-2 with a 6-4, 6-1 win at sixth singles against Wanze Li.

The doubles team of Busch and Delnaz Shalforoosh (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) defeated Northrup and Li at third doubles, 8-4, for William Paterson's third team point of the day.

The Pioneers will return to action Saturday, Oct. 4, at The College of New Jersey at 1:30 p.m.
