Volleyball Splits Pair at St. Joseph's

BROOKLYN , N.Y. – The William Paterson volleyball team (13-4) split a pair of matches at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn Sept. 29.

The Pioneers lost to the host Bears in the first match of the day, 13-30, 22-30 and 27-30. Sophomore Kelly Helfrich (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) collected 10 kills and five block solos, sophomore Samantha Reed (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) had a team-best 10 digs, and senior Dana Hansen (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) posted 15 assists.

William Paterson bounced back to defeat St. Joseph's-Long Island, 30-21, 30-23 and 30-19. Helfrich had a team-high 13 kills, senior Tamara Miller (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) produced 11 kills and nine digs seven kills, and Reed led the team with 13 digs. Hansen added 19 assists and seven kills in the winning effort.

William Paterson will next host Montclair State Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7:00 p.m.
