Rowan Rallies to Defeat WP, 3-2

WAYNE , N.J. – Trailing 2-0, the Rowan volleyball team (4-7, 2-1 NJAC) rallied to defeat William Paterson (9-2, 1-2 NJAC), 3-2, Sept. 20 at the Rec Center.

The Pioneers earned victories in the first two games, 30-15 and 30-26, but the Profs fought back to take the final three games, 30-27, 30-28 and 15-13.

Freshman Siobahn Young led the Profs with 25 kills and 27 digs. Junior Alexis Louie added 22 kills and 25 digs, and sophomore Chrissy McKay had a match-high 36 assists.

Sophomore Kelly Helfrich (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) led the Pioneers with 19 kills and five block solos, adding 18 digs. Senior Tamara Miller (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) chipped in 15 kills and a match-best 32 digs, while sophomore Samantha Reed (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) added 31 digs. Senior Dana Hansen (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) led William Paterson with 17 assists.

William Paterson will host a tri-meet Saturday, Sept. 22. The Pioneers will play Lehman at 11:00 a.m., Lehman will take on Arcadia at 1:00 p.m., and WP will face Arcadia at 3:00 p.m.
