POMONA, N.J. – In a closely-contested game that featured six lead changes and 10 ties, the No. 22/24 William Paterson women's basketball team (18-4, 8-2 NJAC) suffered its second straight setback, a 62-57 decision at Richard Stockton (12-9, 8-2 NJAC) Feb. 3.
The score was deadlocked for the final time at 38-38 with eight minutes to play, but a later 9-2 Osprey run gave Stockton a 52-43 advantage with 1:32 remaining. The Ospreys then made 10 of 12 free throws down the stretch to ice their seventh-straight victory.
Freshman
Elisa Brown (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) led the Pioneers with 15 points. Senior
Melissa Moore (East Orange, N.J./North Bergen) added 10 tallies, and classmate
Meghan Ludgate (Palermo, N.J./Ocean City) added six points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
With the result of the William Paterson-Richard Stockton game, and a Rutgers-Newark victory against Kean, those four teams are now tied for first place overall in the NJAC with identical 8-2 records.
