YORK, Pa. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (8-3) fell to host York (Pa.), 70-61, in the consolation game of the White Rose City Classic Dec. 29.
Senior Jason Cameron (Cliffside Park, N.J./Cliffside Park) led the Pioneers with 17 points, making four of 10 (.400) three-pointers. Sophomore forward Abdoulaye Ouedraogo (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Joseph Ellis (Newark, N.J./Newark Science) added nine points.
Even though William Paterson had two fewer turnovers than the Spartans (15-17), York outscored the Pioneers in points off the miscues, 23-15. The hosts also made more free throws (20-of-31) than WP attempted (11-of-18), and shot 50.0 (22-of-44) percent from the field compared to the Pioneers' 33.9 (21-of-62) percent effort.
The Pioneers will return to the Rec Center to take on Manhattanville Saturday, Jan. 5, at 1:00 p.m.
