WAYNE , N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (14-5) battled a pesky Centenary (7-13) squad but prevailed, 3-0, Oct. 4 at the Rec Center.
The Pioneers earned the victory by scores of 30-25, 30-26 and 30-27. Sophomore
Kelly Helfrich (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) led the Pioneers with 18 kills, senior
Tamara Miller (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) added 10 kills, and senior
Dana Hansen (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) collected 25 assists. Sophomore
Samantha Reed (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) had a team-best 14 digs for the Pioneers.
Senior Christina Boyer paced the Cyclones with 17 kills, while junior Victoria Rice added 11 kills. Junior Tomomi Kise had a match-high 16 digs, and junior Jolyn Veres dished out 38 assists.
William Paterson will next play Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Rutgers-Newark at 7:00 p.m.
