WAYNE, N.J.– William Paterson senior 6-5 forward
Luis Martinez (Passaic, N.J./Clifton) earned a spot on the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Men's Basketball First Team for the second straight year, the league office announced.
Martinez led the Pioneers with 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest this season, shooting 48.4 (140-289) percent from the field. He ranked ninth in the NJAC in both scoring and defensive rebounds (4.48 rpg), 10th in rebounding and blocked shots (0.64 bpg), and 12th in field-goal percentage as of Feb. 21.
This marks the second straight year that Martinez was a first-team all-NJAC selection. He finished 19th in career scoring at William Paterson (1,119), averaging 11.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 99 career games.
Martinez was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-America Second Team, the d3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region Second Team and the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association All-Second Team last season. He was a preseason 2006-2007 all-America selection by Street & Smith's (second team) and d3hoops.com (honorable mention).
The Pioneers posted a 15-10 overall record and a 6-7 mark in NJAC play this winter.
