JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The No. 13 William Paterson men's basketball team (10-4, 2-1 NJAC) suffered its first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) loss of the season, a 56-42 defeat at New Jersey City (7-7, 2-2 NJAC) Jan. 10.
The Pioneers suffered from a poor shooting effort from the floor, making just 32.0 (16-50) percent of their attempts overall and 11.1 (2-18) percent of their shots from beyond the arc. William Paterson fell behind early, as the Gothic Knights jumped out to a 20-4 lead on their way to a 33-15 halftime advantage.
Senior All-American Luis Martinez (Passaic, N.J./Clifton) was the lone Pioneer in double figures with 10 points. Sophomore Tim Lucas (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) added nine tallies.

The Pioneers will return home to face Ramapo Saturday, Jan. 13, at 3:00 p.m.
