MADISON, N.J. (NOVEMBER 17, 2006) - The No. 7 William Paterson men's basketball team (1-0) earned a solid win in its season opener, defeating Wentworth Tech (0-1) 84-69 in the first round of the Rose City Classic Nov. 17 at Drew University.
A solid shooting effort helped the Pioneers earn the victory. WPU made 56.1 (32-57) percent of its field-goal attempts, including a 17-for-29 (.586) effort in the first half.

Joey Spiegel (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) led the Pioneers with 19 points and six rebounds, one of four Pioneers to reach double figures in scoring. Senior 6-5 forward and all-American

Da-Shawn Dwight (Newark, N.J./Bloomfield Tech) had 13 tallies, and senior 6-5 forward
