WAYNE, N.J. (NOVEMBER 10, 2006) - The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team improved to 3-1 with a 121-69 victory against St. Joseph's (Long Island) at Wightman Gym.
Junior
Katelyn Esposito (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) was one of four double winners for the Pioneers, finishing first in the 1,000-meter freestyle (12:24.45) and the 100 breaststroke (1:21.04). Sophomore
Cathy Hartwell (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) won the 50 (26.26) and 100 (57.67) frees,
Traci Dombrowski (Union, N.J./Union) touched the wall first in the 200 (2:11.17) and 500 (5:49.78) frees, and
Giana Albruzzese (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) won the one-meter (157.58) and three-meter (157.05) dives. Other winners for the Pioneers included junior
Jessica Lyon (Pequannock, N.J./ Pequannock) in the 200 IM (2:27.40),
Colleen Takemoto (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) in the 100 fly (1:05.97) and
Grace McKay (Fairlawn, N.J./Fairlawn) in the 100 backstroke (1:07.14). McKay, Lyon, Takemoto and Hartwell earned a victory in the 200 medley relay (2:01.94), and Dombrowski,
Donivyn Schmidt (Mansfield, N.J./Warren Hills),
Melanie Mejias (Union, N.J./Union) and Takemoto earned the win in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:51.17.
The William Paterson men and women will compete at Baruch Saturday, Nov. 11.
