ROWAN, N.J. (NOVEMBER 10, 2006) - The William Paterson football team (1-9, 1-6 NJAC) dropped its 2006 season finale, falling at No. 16 Rowan (7-2, 6-1 NJAC) 38-7 Nov. 10 in Rowan, N.J.

The Profs got on the scoreboard first when Daniel Roberts connected on a 36-yard field goal midway through the first quarter. However, Rowan's lead was erased less than two minutes later, as junior wide receiver Kareen Moon (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan B. Wagner) came up with a jump ball thrown by freshman quarterback John Woodson (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield), racing down the left sideline for a 54-yard touchdown with 5:24 remaining in the first quarter.

Rowan's Tim Harrison and William Paterson's Todd Gorski (Howell, N.J./Freehold Twp.) traded interceptions to begin the second quarter, but neither team could get things going offensively until Mike Orihel hooked up with Emory Lestor for a 10-yard TD one minute before the break, giving the Profs a 10-7 halftime edge.

Jonathan Downes crossed the goal line from two yards out, pushing Rowan's advantage to 10 (17-7) with 5:41 to play in the third, and with less than a minute remaining in the period, Downes rumbled in from the four-yard line to make it a 24-7 contest.

A 21-yard interception return by Aaron McCord (31-7, 7:00), followed by an eight-yard TD scamper by Downes (38-7, 2:16) helped put the game away for the Profs.

Woodson completed five of eight passes for 79 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while Bryan Petitie (Center Reach, N.Y./Newfield) threw six passes, completing one. Sophomore Mike Vicci (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) rushed 27 times for 74 yards, while Moon caught two passes for 65 yards and one touchdown.

Sophomore Harold Green (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) led the WPU defense with 12 tackles (eight solo). Senior Shadee Davis (New Brunswick, N.J./New Brunswick) had nine stops (eight solo), including three for a loss, and classmate Chris DiNapoli (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) added eight stops.
