WAYNE, N.J. (OCTOBER 7, 2006) – William Paterson (7-13) split a pair of matches at its Homecoming Volleyball Quad Oct. 7 at the WPU Recreation Center.
The Pioneers lost their first match of the day, 0-3 (24-30, 25-30, 26-30) to King's (12-9). Junior outside hitter
Michelle Banom (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington) recorded a match-high 17 kills to go along with six block solos, while junior setter
Dana Hansen (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) collected 23 assists. Both
Tamara Miller (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) and
Samantha Reed (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) had 15 digs to lead the WPU defensive effort.
In the nightcap, William Paterson defeated Wilkes (6-18) 3-1 (30-28, 30-28, 28-30, 30-28). Banom posted 15 kills, junior middle hitter
Tasha DelVacchio (Magnolia, N.J./Sterling) had 10 kills, and Hansen distributed 27 assists. She also collected 16 digs, as did Miller.
“Against Wilkes we had a total team effort,” said 28th-year WPU head coach
Sandy Ferrarella. “Every person filled her role and did what she had to do in order for us to win.”
