WAYNE, N.J. – Freshman football placekicker and men’s soccer midfielder Dom Busto (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week Nov. 3.

 

Busto was 4-for-5 on PATs and made his only field-goal attempt during a 51-24 football victory against Buffalo State Nov. 1. After seeing his first PAT hit the right upright, he was perfect for the rest of the day. He then made his way to Pioneer Soccer Park and played the final five minutes of No. 11 William Paterson’s 5-1 victory against The College of New Jersey in the first round of the NJAC Tournament that evening. Busto, who came to William Paterson to play soccer and had never previously played football, was enlisted with a fellow soccer player to help the WP football program after the starting kicker suffered an injury Oct. 4 against Montclair State. Since the Oct. 11 contest, Busto is 1-for-2 on field goals, 5-for-6 on PATs, and kicked off five times for an average of 44.8 yards. He has also played in four men’s soccer matches.
