WAYNE, N.J. – Women’s tennis senior Joanna Jakobik (Garfield, N.J./Garfield) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week Oct. 13.

  

Jakobik, trailing 0-5 in the second set after losing the first set 6-7, fought back to win her third singles match 7-5 (11-9) as the Pioneers defeated Saint Elizabeth 7-2 Oct. 9. The senior, who battled to the finish in a 1-6, 6-4, 3-6 loss against Drew Oct. 8, also reached the third round of the NJAIAW Tournament Oct. 11.
