WAYNE, N.J. – Women’s basketball junior forward April Smith (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week for Feb. 28.

Smith averaged 19.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in a pair of wins, leading the Pioneers to the 2011 NJAC Tournament title. She scored 18 points and collected a game-high 13 rebounds during a 79-68 win against Montclair State in the NJAC Tournament semifinals Feb. 23, adding four assists against the Red Hawks. She was then 8-for-12 (.667) from the field for 21 points, adding game bests of 16 rebounds and two blocked shots during a 63-49 NJAC Tournament championship-game victory against Rutgers-Newark Feb. 26.
