John Brogan was named an assistant softball coach in January 2025.
Prior to arriving at WP, he worked for three years as an assistant baseball coach at Iona University and an additional three years at Rockland Community College, primarily serving as the defensive coordinator for both programs.
Brogan also has over 30 years of coaching experience at the high school level. A Suffern, N.Y., resident, he was the softball and baseball instruction coordinator for the Suffern youth program, a program that was a host for both Major League Baseball sponsored activities “Pinch, Hit and Run” and “MLB Jr. Home Run Derby”.
In addition to coaching, Brogan is a career educator. He worked with the Mount Vernon Central School District, coordinating the Winter4Kids program that exists to create healthy lifestyles and influence behaviors of children through outdoor activities. He was the Edith 2024 Kaplan STEAM Academy Teacher of the Year honoree and taught middle school and high school physical education with the state of New York for 34 years before retiring in 2024.
In retirement, Brogan works part-time with softball and baseball instruction and is a Rockland County Umpires Association member.
Brogan graduated from Seton Hall University in 1987 with a bachelor’s in health and physical education. While attending Seton Hall, he pitched for the Pirates and was a member of the 1987 Big East Championship team. He later earned his master’s in secondary health education from Lehman College in 1994.
