Former William Paterson standout starting pitcher Diana Schraer ’09 was named an assistant softball coach in January 2025.
Schraer enjoyed an illustrious four-year playing career from 2005-08, helping the Pioneers make the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament (NJAC) all four seasons. She was a key member of the 2005 team that won the NJAC Tournament title and appeared in the NCAA Division III Softball World Series.
The four-time all-NJAC (2005-08) and two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-Region (2005-06) selection pitched to a 1.33 career earned run average, which ranks fourth in program history. She compiled a program-best .789 winning percentage (60-16) with the fourth-most wins in team history. Her 20 shutouts sit fourth all-time while her 275 strikeouts rank sixth.
Schraer had previous coaching stops at Rutgers-Newark (2017-19), Cranford High School (2015-16) and Immaculate Heart Academy (2010-14).
She currently is a special education middle school teacher and spends time as a pitching coach at Fred Hill Sports Academy.
Schraer graduated from William Paterson with a bachelor’s in English writing in 2009.
