Jordan Gontram joined the William Paterson softball staff as an assistant coach in August of 2022.
She works primarily with the Pioneers' hitters and outfielders.
Gontram arrived in Wayne, N.J., after wrapping up her playing career at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) in 2022 where she was an outfielder and designated player. She played a pivotal role for the Spartans, who won the Southern Conference regular-season title five times during her tenure with the program. Gontram additionally helped her team reach the NCAA Tournament in 2018 and 2021 after the Spartans captured a pair of Southern Conference Tournament championships.Â
As a graduate student in 2022, she set the single-season program record for home runs with 19 to cap her career with 53 dingers, which ranks second all time in program history. The Raleigh, N.C., native additionally finished inside the top-10 at UNCG in RBI (150), slugging percentage (.559) and walks (81).
During her five playing seasons, she received numerous accolades on the field and in the classroom. In 2022, she garnered second-team all-Southern Conference  recognition, a year after being named the UNCG Comeback Player of the Year. Gontram was a two-time academic all-conference team recipient, was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team and earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.
While with the Spartans, Gontram also gained experience running clinics, instructing campers and recruiting student-athletes.
Gontram graduated from UNCG in 2022 with a master’s in kinesiology with a concentration in sport and exercise psychology after earning her bachelor’s in business administration in 2020. During her graduate studies, she ran a workshop for college coaches of women's sports that focused on season and career-ending injuries, mental health and the role of the coach.
