67878Eleni Lutas returned to her alma mater to serve as a William Paterson softball volunteer assistant coach for the 2019 season.
 
A transfer from Rutgers-Newark, Lutas (2016-18) was a three-year starter in center field for the Pioneers, earning National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) third-team all-region and honorable-mention all-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) honors as a senior after she posted team highs of 33 runs scored, 14 walks and a .433 on-base percentage while making just one error in 61 total chances defensively (.984). Her stellar final campaign included personal bests in batting average (.352), hits (43), doubles (six), triples (three), RBI (14) and stolen bases (12).
 
In 116 career contests, Lutas batted .319 (105-329) with 11 doubles, five triples, 23 RBI, 75 runs scored and 28 stolen bases.
 
A Dean’s List student, the Pompton Plains, N.J., native was a member of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 Academic All-NJAC Honorable Mentions as well as a 2017 NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. A first-team all-North Jersey and all-conference pick at Pequannock High School, she graduated magna cum laude from WP in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and was named the winner of the Department of Kinesiology Exercise Physiology Award for Physical Education.
