Bob Wasilak joind the William Paterson softball coaching staff in 2018 as an assistent coach.

Wasilak brings in extensive coaching experience at the high school and club level, having most recently served as head coach for the Livingston Thunder club softball team from 2003-2016. At the high school level, Wasilak coached the junior varsity and varsity softball teams at Kearny High School from 1988 to 2004.

A Kearny, N.J. native, Wasilak has spent the majority of his career in administration or as a teacher in the Kearny school system, working as a K-12 adaptive physical education teacher (1983-2002), K-12 health education teacher (1983-2002), K-12 physical education teacher, K-6 guidance counselor and K-6 elementary school principal at Garfield Elementary School in Kearny, N.J. Wasilak is a member of the Involvement Professional Development Committee, Community Parent Involvement Committee, New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, New Jersey Education Association and New Jersey School Counselor Association.

A standout baseball player at Kearny H.S., Wasilak was drafted in the 27th round (604th pick) by the New York Yankees in the 1973 June MLB Draft. Wasilak would play in the Yankees’ minor league system for two years, playing in 20 games for the Class A Oneonta Yankees in 1973 and 34 games for the Johnson City Yankees of the Rookie League in 1974.

Following his playing career, Wasilak earned a bachelor of arts in physical and health education from Kean College of N.J. in 1983. He returned to Kean College and completed a master’s of arts in counselor education in 1995. Wasilak's daughter, Rachel, was a four-year letter winner for the Pioneer softball program (2013-16).
