Ashley Buschgans

Ashley Buschgans joined the William Paterson softball staff as an assistant coach in August 2023.  

She arrives at WP from the University of Connecticut, where she served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Huskies during the 2023 campaign. UConn finished the year with a 34-15 overall record at 19-5 mark in Big East action.

Prior to earning a promotion to the role of volunteer assistant coach, she spent three seasons as a team manager and worked with current WP head softball coach, Jessica Jacobson. Buschgans was responsible for preparing and analyzing opposing team’s film and tracking statistical data during practices and games along with several other duties.

While in Storrs, Conn., she additionally was a four-year member of the UConn club softball team. She was a two-time NCSA Second-Team New England All-Region Award honoree and helped her team advance to Regionals, Nationals and the Club Softball World Series in 2022 and 2023.  She was the club softball president during her final year with the program.

Buschgans has spent time volunteering with the Special Olympics and has continued to help grow the game of softball by volunteering with Stafford Little League softball players as well as helping out at various camps. 

A native of Waldwick, N.J., she attended Waldwick High School where she was a four-year varsity letter winner in softball, basketball, and soccer. As a softball player, she was a four-time first-team all-league performer and a two-time second-team all-county honoree. She left the program as the career leader in hits and home runs.

Buschgans graduated from UConn in 2023 with a degree in allied health sciences and a minor in engineering management.
