Former Pioneer Matt Scozzari ‘12 was tabbed to lead the William Paterson golf program as Head Coach for the 2022-23 season.
Scozzari served as a WP Assistant Coach during the 2012-13 season, and was the Assistant Golf Professional at Madison Golf Club (2012-14), coordinating all on-property events, managing inventory and providing private golf instruction for members.
He was a part of the 2011 and 2011-12 WP rosters, the first NCAA teams sponsored by William Paterson since 1989. During his two seasons, Scozzari averaged 81.73 strokes during 15 rounds played, the third-best career average for the Pioneers. His six top-10 finishes currently rate second at WP, and his 79.00 average during seven rounds played in 2011 is the second-best single-season average in school history.
Scozzari won the sectional title and was a first-team all-conference and all-area selection as a senior at Kinnelon High School in 2008. Also a second-team all-state honoree, the Kinnelon native was a Dean’s List student while completing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at William Paterson in 2012. Since graduation, he has enjoyed a successful career in sales, most recently serving as a Mortgage Loan Originator for U.S. Bank. Scozzari, along with friend Todd Wiggins, qualified for the prestigious 2022 USGA Four-Ball Championship, played in Birmingham, Ala.
