Ethan Jeros


Assistant coach Ethan Jeros is in his sixth season with the William Paterson football program in 2013.

Jeros’ worked with the running backs and coordinated the special teams in 2012, and his coaching contributed to a 2011 Pioneer defensive unit that finished sixth in Division III in pass defense (129.70 yards/game), and in 2010 was third in Division III in pass defense (115.3 yards/game), 26th in total defense (268.8 yards/game) and 27th in pass efficiency defense (96.5 yards/game). Damian DiIorio was a first-team all-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and third-team D3football.com all-region selection, and defensive ends Dan Nunez and Dyon Moore were two of four WP all-conference defensive honorees following the 2010 campaign. His work with the special teams led to three 2011 all-league awards, including punter Cory Mundt and placekicker Robert Sinegra.

In 2009, Jeros coached all-NJAC linemen Keith Sayball and Moore, two anchors of a three-man starting unit that compiled 150 tackles, 28.5 tackles-for-loss and 7.5 sacks. Under his tutelage, William Paterson’s starting three linebackers combined for 161 tackles (23.0 TFL) during the 2008 season, and Jared Burke was named to the All-NJAC Second Team for the second straight year.

Before joining the William Paterson staff, Jeros spent two years as the Northern Michigan University recruiting coordinator, defensive line coach and run-game defensive coordinator (2006-07). Prior to his two-year stint at NMU, Jeros was the defensive ends coach and assistant video coordinator at Virginia Military Institute for one year (2005), and was the defensive line coach and junior varsity defensive coordinator at Muskingum College for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He began his college coaching career at his alma mater, Marietta College, serving as the defensive line coach and junior varsity defensive coordinator for two and a half years (2000-02).

Named a two-time all-conference selection at defensive tackle for the Pioneers (1992-93), Jeros was an honorable-mention all-America pick by the Don Hansen Football Gazette. He started his college career at Ramapo College (1989-91), earning the Roadrunners’ Most Improved Player award in 1991, and was a Hall of Fame selection following a standout career at Hightstown High School.

A native of East Windsor, Jeros has local coaching ties, working with the defensive linemen at New Milford High School (1996-97) and serving as the defensive coordinator at South Brunswick High School (1998-99).

He earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations in 1995, and a master’s in education in 2002, from Marietta.
