Men’s Soccer Overcomes Early Deficit, Secures 2-1 Home Victory against Baruch

WAYNE, N.J. – After spotting the Bearcats an early goal, the William Paterson men's soccer team (1-1) scored twice during the match's final 30 minutes for a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against Baruch (0-1) Sept. 2 at Pioneer Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bearcats found the back of the net 8:57 into the contest, and carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
  • The Pioneers got the equalizer at the 61:02 mark when a free kick by junior midfielder Davide Zamuner (Piverone, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Statale A. Gramsci) led to an attempt by sophomore back Gabriel McGee (Union, N.J./Union) that was blocked, and junior forward John Witkowski (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) cleaned up the rebound for his first goal as a Pioneer.
  • Zamuner's corner kick was finished at the near post by freshman midfielder Jeremiah Joseph (West Orange, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) for the game winner, his first collegiate points, with 7:10 remaining.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore Riccardo Prati (Milan, Italy/Alexis Carrel) posted three stops in goal for the Pioneers.

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson goes on the road Saturday, Sept. 5, for a 3:00 p.m. contest at Mount Saint Vincent.
