ABINGTON, Pa. – Junior forward/midfielder Janie Henderson (Stanhope, N.J./Hopatcong) exploded for three goals during a 3:50 span to help lift the William Paterson women's soccer team (2-2) to a 5-2 triumph at Penn State Abington (0-5) Sept. 12.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Pioneers struck first when sophomore back Jules Schmidt (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) connected on a ball from freshman forward Kylie Grompone (Emerson, N.J./Emerson), handing WP a 1-0 edge 29 seconds before halftime.
• The Nittany Lions converted twice during a two-minute span, seizing a 2-1 edge in the 53rd minute.
• Henderson leveled the score at 2-2 off an Emerson Garrett (Verona, N.J./Verona) assist at the 69:25 mark, then provided unassisted goals in the 73rd and 74th minutes for a 4-2 William Paterson lead.
• Senior forward Christina Jimemez tacked on an unassisted insurance goal at the 75:31 mark.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Sophomore Alessandra Socio (North Brunswick, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) had two stops in goal for the Pioneers.
• Henderson recorded her first career hat trick.
• Grompone and Garrett collected their first career points with the assists.
