Women's Swimming and Diving Cruises to 179-61 Road Win over SUNY Maritime

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (5-2) dominated in a 179-61 road victory over SUNY Maritime College (1-5) on Nov. 11.
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Freshman Adaya Bourne (Saunders, Sint Maarten/Milton Peters College) posted first-place finishes in the 100 back (1:08.13), 100 free (58.36), and the 100 fly (1:05.65).
  • Sophomore Sarah Churchill (Washington Twp., N.J./Westwood) was victorious in the 1000 free (13.18.83).
  • Sophomore Katelyn Antonoff (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) finished first in the 200 free (2:12.95), 500 free (5:58.05), and the 200 back (2:27.30).
  • Senior Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) posted first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:30.81) and 100 breast (1:16.98).
  • Sophomore Cassandra Ashworth (Totowa, N.J./Homeschool) touched the wall first in the 200 Fly (3:51.32).
  • Freshman Joelle Royster (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) clinched first-place in the 1 meter dive (175.45).
  • The Pioneers placed first in the 200 medley relay (2:09.78), with efforts from sophomore Skylar Coleman (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn), Gomez, sophomore Dalisha Romero (Perth Amboy, N.J./Perth Amboy), and Sophomore Frances Gomes (Kearny, N.J./Kearny).
  • WP won the 200 freestyle relay, with efforts from Bourne, Antonoff, sophomore Frances Gomes (Kearny, N.J./Kearny), and Romero, finishing with a time of 1:54.23.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Coleman posted personal bests in the 100 back (1:08.13) and 100 fly (1:05.65).
  • Gomez trimmed time from her 100 fly best (1:05.69).
  • Morante registered personal records in the 100 back (1:35.00) and 50 free (33.16).
  • Morrison posted a new personal 200 breast best (3:10.31).

  • William Paterson travels to Brooklyn College on Saturday, Dec. 6, for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
