Sixth-Seeded Men's Soccer Treks to Third-Seeded Rowan for NJAC Tournament Quarterfinals

WAYNE, N.J. – The sixth-seeded William Paterson men's soccer team (8-7-3, 4-3-2 NJAC) will square off against third-seeded and No. 24-ranked Rowan (12-3-4, 5-2-2 NJAC) Saturday, Nov. 1, in the quarterfinal round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament at 2:00 p.m. in Glassboro, N.J.  
 
TICKET INFORMATION
  • Tickets can be purchased in advance HERE
  • Ticket prices are $11.00 for adults; $6.00 for seniors (65+), children (2-12) and students, which includes a $1.00 fee
  • No cash ticket sales will take place at any NJAC Tournament venue. Patrons will have the opportunity to purchase electronic tickets on-site via a mobile device, but only if tickets remain available at the attempted time of purchase.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
  • The winner of the matchup between William Paterson and Rowan will advance to the semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 5, against second-seeded Stockton in Galloway, N.J. Following the semifinals, the highest remaining seed will host the championship game Saturday, Nov. 8, at a time to be determined. The NJAC Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. 
     
WP IN THE NJAC TOURNAMENT
  • The Pioneers are making their 11th NJAC Tournament appearance, and first since the 2020-21 campaign.
  • WP is seeking its first-ever conference title.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
  • William Paterson is making its first NJAC Tournament appearance under fourth-year head coach Matt Heitmann after playing to an 8-7-3 overall record and 4-3-2 mark in conference action.
  • Senior Seydou Camara (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) led the Pioneers with six goals during the regular season, while junior Matty Escobar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) contributed five scores and three helpers.
  • The Pioneers finished fourth in the NJAC in goals allowed (17) and goals-against average (.944).
  • Senior goalkeeper Luca Misko (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan) has started 15 games this season, posting an .810 save percentage, 1.01 goals-against average, 64 saves and five shutouts.

SCOUTING THE PROFS
  • Rowan spent the first four seasons ranked inside the top 10 national rankings and enters the conference tournament as the third seed and 24th nationally ranked squad with a 12-3-4 overall record and 5-2-2 mark in conference play.
  • The Profs are on a three-game win streak and are 4-0-3 in their last seven outings, not suffering a loss since a 4-3 defeat at Rutgers-Camden on Oct. 4.
  • Senior Johnny Troiano not only leads the NJAC in fewest goals scored (16) but also is tied for sixth nationally. The Hazlet, N.J., native has additionally dished out five assists in 19 contests for a conference-best 37 points.
  • Senior goalkeeper Travis Holiday has earned the starting nod the past five outings, posting a 0.80 goals-against average, .810 save percentage, 17 stops and a pair of clean sheets during that stretch.
 
EARLIER THIS SEASON
  • The Pioneers and Profs played to a 1-1 draw at Pioneer Soccer Park on Oct. 11.
  • Rowan scored in the 84th minute before senior Kane Fisher (Chesterfield, England/Netherthorpe Secondary School) netted the equalizer in the 86th minute.
