Late-Game Heroics Secure 1-1 Men’s Soccer Senior Day Draw Against No. 18 Rowan

Fisher's Strike Earns Point in Conference Standings

WAYNE, N.J. – A strike during the match's final five minutes allowed the William Paterson men's soccer team (6-4-3, 2-0-2 NJAC) to secure a point in the conference standings with a 1-1 Senior Day draw against No. 18 Rowan (8-3-3, 1-2-1 NJAC) Oct. 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After a well-contested opening 83 minutes, the Profs took advantage of a free kick awarded on the left wing, finding the right-side netting for the day's first goal.
  • Less than two minutes later, the Pioneers got the equalizer. A WP throw-in from the right touch line was not adequately cleared by a Rowan defender in the box, and senior midfielder Kane Fisher (Chesterfield, England/Netherthorpe Secondary School) took it out of the air and volleyed it inside the right post to make it a 1-1 game with 4:58 remaining.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior Luca Misko (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan) collected two saves.
  • The last time WP earned a point in conference play against a ranked opponent was Oct. 13, 2023, a 1-1 home result against No. 14 Kean. Earlier this season, William Paterson played to a 1-1 tie at No. 21 Stevens (9/1/25).
  • Prior to the match, the Pioneers honored their eight seniors Jimmy Bruno (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan), Roberto Cacaci (Torino, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Galfer), Seydou Camara (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge), Fisher, Daniel Janosek (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington), Misko, Delvin Nketia (New Brunswick, N.J./Montclair) and Jakub Paszczyk (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex).

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson takes on host No. 23 Montclair State Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 7:00 p.m.
