Women's Soccer Blanks Ramapo, 2-0

MAHWAH, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (5-3-3, 1-0-1 NJAC) picked up its first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory of the season after blanking Ramapo (2-6-1, 0-2-0 NJAC), 2-0, on the road Oct. 2.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • William Paterson took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute after sophomore Christina Jimenez (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) found senior Abby Lonergan (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) for the score.
  • The Pioneers tacked on an insurance goal in the 79th minute once freshman Janie Henderson (Stanhope, N.J./Hopatcong) delivered a strike into the back of the net.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Lonergan netted her first goal of the season.
  • Henderson recorded her second collegiate goal.
  • Jimenez tallied her second assist of the year.
  • Junior Sarah Mantilla (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) posted her fifth clean sheet and her second in as many games.
  • The Fair Lawn, N.J., native has allowed just one goal in her last five outings.
 
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson will take on Rutgers-Newark Saturday, Oct. 5, in a road conference game slated for 7:00 p.m.
