Women's Soccer Falls to Rutgers-Newark in NJAC Play

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (2-3-3, 1-1 NJAC) dropped a 2-1 NJAC matchup against Rutgers-Newark (5-5, 1-1 NJAC) at Pioneer Soccer Park on Wednesday, September 27.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Scarlet Raptors took a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute and added an insurance goal in the 58th minute.
  • The Pioneers cut the deficit to one on a corner kick. Junior midfielder Brianna De La Cruz (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) sent the corner kick into the box, finding freshman Christina Jimenez (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional), who sent a header over the goalie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Jimenez posted her second goal of her freshman campaign.
  • De La Cruz recorded her first assist of the season, second of her career.
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson hosts No. 14 The College of New Jersey for a NJAC matchup on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 5:00 p.m.
