MOOSIC, PA. – The William Paterson golf team kicked off its 2023-24 season by finishing first at a tri-match with Marywood and Neumann Sept. 11 at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• The Pioneers posted a team score of 346, ahead of Neumann (359) and Marywood (DNF).
• Senior Anthony Slekis (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) and freshman Michael Snyder (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) tied for second place with rounds of 82 (+11).
• Junior Jake Lutz (River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley Regional) carded an 88 (+17, tied-sixth), senior Vincent Limone (Little Ferry, N.J./Ridgefield Park) shot a 94 (+23, eighth), and senior Ryan Murphy (Enfield, Conn./Enfield) had a 96 (+25, tied-ninth) during his Pioneer debut.
• Marywood's Paul Appolt was the individual medalist with a round of 78 (+7) at the par-71, 6,488-yard Glenmaura.

• William Paterson will compete at the FDU-Florham Fall Invitational Monday, Sept. 18, at 1:00 p.m. at Mendham Golf and Tennis Club.
