Women's Swimming and Diving Dominates at Maritime

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving (5-3-1) commanded the lanes against Maritime (1-2), topping the Privateers 123-50 on Dec. 5.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Sophomore Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) secured first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:23.50), 500 free (5:58.71) and 100 breast (1:14.90).
  • Graduate student Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) touched the wall first in the 50 free (26.74) and 100 free (1:00.97).
  • Junior Samantha Pricken (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) won the 200 free (2:13.31) and 100 back (1:05.70).
  • Senior Hailey Krajewski (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) posted a first-place finish in the 100 fly (1:05.13).
  • The Pioneers were victorious in the 200-medley relay with efforts by Pricken, senior Nicole Kahwaty (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Morris County Tech), senior Jillian Starace (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) and Vail, finishing with a time of 2:04.09.
  • With a time of 1:57.86, the Pioneers secured first place in the 200 free relay, with efforts by freshman Kira Collum (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood), senior Melody Espin (Colonia, N.J./Colonia), Krajewski and Starace.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Espin posted personal bests in the 1,000 free (13:48.47) and 100 free (1:06.76).
  • Krajewski shredded time off her 200 free best (2:15.63).
  • Vail secured personal records with her first-place finishes in the 50 free (26.74) and 100 free (1:00.97).
  • Senior Skylar Mancini (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) earned a personal best in the 50 free (40.06).

  • William Paterson returns home on Saturday, Dec. 9 for a 1:00 p.m. meet against FDU-Florham.
