Women's Swimming and Diving Tops John Jay, 109-81

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (6-4-1) closed out the year winning nine of 11 events against John Jay (3-3) to top the Bloodhounds, 109-81, on Dec. 12 at Wightman Pool.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Graduate student Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) posted first-place finishes in the 50 free (26.70) and 100 free (59.77).
  • Senior Nicole Kahwaty (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Morris County Tech) was victorious in the 1,000 free (13:26.93) and 500 free (6:39.26).
  • Junior Samantha Pricken (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) touched the wall first in the 200 free (2:12.10) and 100 back (1:06.32).
  • Senior Hailey Krajewski (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) triumphed in the 100 fly (1:05.52).
  • Sophomore Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) secured first in the 200 IM (2:25.15).
  • The Pioneers won the 200-medley relay with efforts by Pricken, Gomez, Krajewski and Vail, finishing with a time of 1:58.77.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Gomez collected a personal record in the 100 breast (1:14.15).
  • Freshman Sarah Filipowicz (Hewitt, N.J./West Milford) recorded personal bests in the 50 free (34.43) and 100 back (1:29.42).
  • Freshman Kira Collum (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) shredded time off her 100-free personal best (1:14.26).

  • William Paterson travels to Newburgh, N.Y. on Sat. Jan 13 for a 5:00 p.m. meet against Mount St. Mary.
