Pioneers Defeated by Ramapo in NJAC Action

MAHWAH, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (11-6) fell to Ramapo (3-5) in NJAC action, 124-50, on Friday, Jan. 27.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • The Pioneers secured a first-place finish in the 400 medley relay, with efforts by junior Samantha Pricken (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), freshman Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech), junior Hailey Krajewski (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and senior Jillian Starace (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East), finishing with a time of 4:34.08.
  • Pricken placed second in the 50 free (26.53) and 200 back (2:24.16).
  • Gomez finished second in the 200 IM (2:26.05).
  • Junior Nicole Kahwaty (Lakke Hopatcong, N.J./Morris County Tech) achieved second place in the 500 free (6:33.09).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Melody Espin (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) posted a personal best in the 200 free (2:36.25).
  • Pricken recorded two personal records in the 50 free (26.53) and 200 back (2:24.16).
  • Krajewski secured a personal best in the 200 breast (2:56.48).
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson returns to action tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 28, at Wightman pool for a 1:00 p.m. meet against Western Connecticut State, where four seniors will be honored.
