WAYNE, N.J. – Graduate student
Carly McDaniel (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton) set a new school record in the 50 fly as the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (9-5) defeated Mount Saint Mary College (2-5) in non-conference action, 97-73, on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Wightman Pool.

TOP PERFORMERS:
- The Pioneers secured first place in the 200 medley with efforts by junior Samantha Pricken (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), junior Hailey Krajewski (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic), senior Jillian Starace (Toms River/Toms River East) and McDaniel, with a time of 1:58.45.
- Pricken placed first in the 200 free (2:09.27) and 100 back (1:03.61).
- McDaniel won the 50 free (24.82) and 100 fly (58.85).
- Freshman Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) finished first in the 200 IM (2:22.91) and 100 free (58.32).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- McDaniel set a new school record in the 50 fly, shedding .55 seconds off (26.17). The 50 fly record was previously held by 1994-95 swimmer Laurie Gazdalski (26.72).
- McDaniel's victory in the 50 free was also a personal best (24.82), which is .34 seconds away from the school record. She also recorded a personal record in the 100 fly (58.85).
- Gomez secured personal records in the 200 IM (2:22.91), 100 free (58.32) and 100 breast (1:14.47).
- Pricken's first-place finishes in the 200 free (2:09.27) and 100 back (1:03.61) were personal bests.
- Senior Stephany Bolanos (Perth Amboy, N.J./Academy for Allied Health & Biomedical Sciences) recorded a personal record in the 200 free (2:41.81).
- Melody Espin (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) earned a personal best in the 500 free (7:14.67).
- Senior Emily Murphy (Stockholm, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) secured a personal record in the 400 IM (6:08.45).
